Custom 4 Pro - Surfwave Quad - 54L / Unicolor is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.

With two years of development to evolve from the previous boards Marcilio chose to ride on the PWA tour, we wondered if the Custom 4 Pro could perform better. The answer is yes, and they are now available.

The latest Custom 4 Pro from our world champions Marcilio Browne, Marino Gil and Francisco Goya. The Custom 4 Pro is the ultimate Pro Model custom wave board thanks to its shape but also because it is the board of choice chosen by our team to ride and compete.

The outlines on these new quads have been slightly increased on the nose and tail of the board. Compared to the previous generation, the rail profile has been thickened on the nose and thinned towards the tail.

The new rockers have been adjusted to balance these changes, incorporating a faster surf rocker that adapts to the curve of the wave while maintaining an early planning start that will accelerate through any ramp or turn.

The shape of the hull transitions fluidly from a flat V under the mast foot for a better transition from one rail to another to limit bounces during the curve at the top of the wave, to a double concave between the feet to a faster, slippery bottom, then blends into a simple concave at the tail for ultimate turns.
Rockers, inserts and constructions are adjusted for each size, depending on the rider and the conditions in which the board will be used. The Custom 4 Pro is the model with the most rocker in the Goya Windsurfing range of boards.

Francisco Goya: What were you looking to get from this new range? What sparked its conception?
Marcilio Browne: I wanted the new boards to perform at their peak in a wider range of conditions. On small volumes, each size of board had to be able to support a larger sail, to be less on-off, to keep its fluidity at high speed, and it surprised me to see that it easily went to the planning until my last turn in the wave, in all types of conditions, from on-shore to two mast sizes.

FG: What challenges did you encounter during development?
MB: The biggest challenge for these boards was balancing the outlines between something I could push really hard when conditions are optimal, while still seamlessly passing the soft areas of the wave without losing speed. Once we had the outlines, Keith started refining the rails and volume distribution to bring everything together.

FG: What are their particularities?
MB: The front of the board has more volume, which gives me more confidence and is more forgiving of mistakes on any section or landing from a backloop on the nose. The rear rails are thinner, allowing me to reach corners more easily, even on the fastest ones, or when I'm looking for a ramp at full speed on choppy conditions.

FG: What can we expect when we start riding with it?
MB: This new line has an even better range than our previous models. They are more forgiving and easier to ride when the waves get fast and big. They give me the confidence to continue accelerating during maneuvers.

FG: How do you size them in relation to the sails?
MB: With these new outlines I can ride a smaller board with a bigger sail, this is ideal when the wind dies and the waves only get better at the end of the day. Conversely, with a smaller sail and a larger board, I feel light and I don't force it; This is my favorite configuration for bump and jump, when I'm looking for ramps while wanting to get the most out of each wave during those long summer days.

FG: Why not 5 boxes?
MB: Our concave hull works best in a quad configuration. Also, being a high-end product, I wouldn't want to add extra weight and drag by adding a case.

FG: Do you have any recommendations for strap/fin/mast settings?
MB: Play with it. I even ride it in twins on light wind days when I want the board to be fluid and skid better.

FG: When did you realize you had accomplished your job?
MB: After developing countless prototypes, there came a point where, rather than going home with a head full of ideas, all I could think about was having this board in the bed of my pick-up and to go sailing with it. It was at that moment that I realized that we had accomplished our mission.

Youth models (54 & 60): Inspired by the Goya Youth team and the 60 liter, the new 54 liter model is born. We thought we should make our favorite boards available for youth, with a tighter strap spread, narrower foot spread, and a farther back mast rail to improve the performance rider's balance. but smaller and lighter. The rider's ideal weight can go up to 60kg. Team: Maria Morales.

Maria Morales Navarro E-737 Young World Vice Champion: Home spot: El Medano, Tenerife.
The 54L was my board of choice, with the 60 liter being my favorite in light winds. Now that I'm older things have changed and my favorite board is the 68 liter. I like its lightness, its compact size and the footstrap positions adjusted for riders of my size.

Marino Gil E-959 Youth World Champion: Home spot: Pozo, Gran Canaria.
I travel throughout Morocco, Spain and the rest of Europe to sail in free sessions and for the world championships. I know that with the Custom 74 & 84 I can ride and perform in any conditions.

Small & Mid-Range sizes (68 to 94 liters): Rockers stay on average between 30mm and 20mm from the rear rocker with small to medium rail thickness and increasing stance from smallest to largest sizes. The boards are used by our young world champions as well as our world wave champions and Jaws riders.
Team: Maria, Marino, Luc, Marcilio, Antoine.

Sizes XL (104 & 114): Ideal for float and ride sessions or for ultimate speed and low revs with almost 1cm less on the tail than its smaller sisters, the 104 and 114 transmit the agility of the smaller sizes in the XXL range.
Team: Marcilio, Tom Hartmann.
